The problem is not the money per se.'
The problem is the strings attached to the money.
I still remember the combative nature of the ATSC special interest
group on interlace versus progressive scanning. I guess this was my
first and closest encounter with engineers (scientists?) being paid
to produce studies that simply defied logic or any trace of
scientific method.
Good luck trying to get a government grant to prove that human
activity is not responsible for global warming.
