John Shutt has mentioned on several occasions a need for a more robust
mode, to maintain your signal coverage when conducting maintenance on
the main transmitter or antenna. Either E-VSB or A-VSB, or possibly
these other MPH proposals, could provide that service.

It will be interesting to see what happens if the royalties can't be
tied to the 8-VSB license. I would expect that would make E-VSB less
attractive than alternatives such as A-VSB, because these other
alternatives do more than *just* reduce the C/N requirement.
