[opendtv] 5.1 audio outputs missing in integrated sets

A post on the usenet made me realize that integrated sets sometimes have
no audio outputs at all, presumably expecting people to listen only to
their puny amp and diminutive speakers. And that if they have audio
outputs, as many do, they are (as far as I've been able to determine
just looking at Best Buy's specs) always analog only, not digital. Which
means no 5.1 audio outputs unless you get digital audio from some STB.

Is this another example of manufacturers being in bed with umbillical
service providers? Or do the specs just fail to mention digital audio
outputs? Maybe John Golitsis can give his first hand observations?

I never thought I'd have to worry about that detail. I'd be really
torqued if I got a set home and discovered that it was deliberately
crippled like that. Can't trust anyone. Assume nothing.
