CMO Announces the Most Advanced 56-inch LCD TV Panel in the World=20

Tainan, Taiwan, September 26, 2005 ? Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corporation=20
(CMO), one of the world?s top three LCD TV panel suppliers, has=20
successfully developed the world?s first 56-inch LCD TV panel with Quad=20
Full High Definition (QFHD, 3840x2160), featuring an astonishing 8.29=20
million pixels. The new panel features resolution that is four times that=20
of currently available products (1920 x 1080), and the highest ever=20
achieved in the world. The new panel consists of over 24.8 million units=20
of transistors, with a data transmission speed of over 1.4 gigabytes per=20
second. To achieve this breakthrough result, the CMO research and=20
development team overcame a number of significant technical challenges,=20
including the development of special new driver methods and scanning=20
procedures and solving massive heat generation problems caused by the=20
alignment of so many transistors. The 56-inch TV panel also boasts its=20
display size as the largest one developed by Taiwan?s TFT LCD maker. CMO=20
will showcase this advanced new product at the FPD International 2005 in=20
Yokohama, Japan from October 19-21, 2005.
CMO President Mr. Jau-Yang Ho pointed out that the technical challenges=20
were not only in developing a larger sized LCD panel, but also in=20
developing the 4x increase in screen resolution. ?CMO is pleased to=20
announce that we have successfully developed the 56-inch QFHD product.=20
This fully demonstrates that CMO has achieved the leading position in LCD=20
display technology, and have set an important milestone for the global=20
display development,? he was quoted as saying. ?In the future, LCD screen=20
size alone will no longer be the technical threshold nor the development=20
focus of display panel makers. From now on, all LCD manufacturers must=20
shift to increasing the consumer experience on LCD display by using=20
greater screen resolution and more advanced technology,? he said.
