The very first R1 build will definitely be for developers and they 
understand the need for these tools. I saw the importance of ssh-d at 
BeGeistert where Axel was using it to work on the Intel graphics driver.

But even so, including these daemons does not make a server OS. How else 
can users be expected to share files on a network? It was one of the great 
features for me when I started using BeOS that it came with an ftp server. 
Even better was the fact that it was not enabled by default.

The fact is that those who need these tools would be prefer to be able to 
use them directly without having to build them themselves. Whether they are 
included in any commercial distribution is another matter but we're not 
talking about anything as ambitious (and complicated) as SAMBA or CUPS.

But IMO this discussion is largely irrelevant as Haiku currently does not 
have a working network implementation.
