For me this is certainly enough, but I would prefer it if our hard-
working beta testing crew can use it out of the box as well.

YES! I agree.

A desktop system, while it may seem unnecessary, should still have all
the necessary commandline client tools such as ftp, telnet, ssh, etc.
The daemons are less important, I think.

Without these tools, it becomes difficult to script anything - i mean,
why bother having a commandline if it doesn't have any tools to use.

In the case of Haiku testers - networking is very functional in it's
current state, but no tools are provided with the image (other than a
broken ping) - making it difficult to experience Haiku - especially
for those who do not have a working BeOS OS to load apps into the
image with.

People in the forums and in #haiku keep looking for a haiku.image with
firefox (or something they can browse with) in it so they can test
networking on VMWare... but I'm somewhat hesitant to do this because
of the instable nature of this combination currently.

Can we get links into the repository?
