Well, we will need this when you want to bring down your ethernet device. 
Currently ifconfig does not allow this (or maybe it is core), but when it will 
be possible you will not want to have the old route and an in_ifaddr pointing 
to a non-existant ifnet (crash, crash ;).
It is just that PPP is making use of it every time you disconnect, so I had to 
get the bug out of the way.

Is this change strictly in regards to the PPP/PPPoE stuff?  You
certainly won't be stepping on my toes, as I wont be working on
either of those (most likely, anyway).
