Hi Philippe!

Done.
Tell me if it works.
Thank you. I will tell you if it does *not* work, soon. ;)
Sometimes I feel like a little bit of coding would be fun. If I don't do
more than just a little bit it should not hurt (let's hope it stays at
that level and I won't become frustrated again ;).
I hope so too ;-)
Just keep telling me: "Relax, don't work too much." :)
My aim is to simplify the PPP stack (remove profiles, simplify reports
and Up+Down methods, replace ppp_up with net_server because it is much
simpler that way). From there, it should be a short step to a
feature-complete, but simple, PPP stack for R1.
Which 'net_server' are you talking about?
The one in src/servers/net (the old testing one). DHCP could use it,
too. It should become a general place for userland networking add-ons.
Did somebody start the FreeBSD-netstack port (just want to know)?
Unfortunatly, no, I didn't start it. Axel created a branch for us under
branches/teams/net/freebsd_port, but I idn't find time during the summer to do
it.
Well, the longer we wait, the better FreeBSD's netstack becomes. At:
http://people.freebsd.org/~andre/tcpoptimization.html
You can find a very interesting plan, for example (old OSNews item).
If you start the port, please log all changes and other information into
DEVNOTES (see libbind sources). Also, we should make it as easy as
possible to update the netstack sources. For example:
- place all Haiku-specific code into separate files
- try to not modify the source files if there is another (not much more
difficult) way
We should let the FreeBSD team work for us. Our aim should not be to
rewrite everything, but to improve usability and simplicity at the
user-level.
Welcome back!
:-)
Thank you very much. I really want to finish the PPP stack. It is
annoying to leave unfinished work behind.
Bye,
Waldemar
