I think that making interfaces (Ethernet, WiFi, PPP, etc.) modular would not be too difficult and might be important for the development of new features (no need to mess with netstack just to port IPsec or Bluetooth networking). Also, generic modules (DHCP, DNS, ...?) could be useful. The rest (IPv4/6, TCP, UDP, ICMP) can easily stay monolithic.

IMHO, of course.
