In order to try to catch back the train I've missed I'd like to read
about how our network stack has been implemented.
I know David has left a few time ago and I should read the code but
what I'm searching for the moment is basic information because when I
read code things don't show up in my mind :-):
- Do we implement POSIX ?
- Does the network stack inherit from another public stack (openBDS or
Linux) ?
- Do you know about online URLs or books explaining how Linux or
OpenBSD or WhatheverOS stack works, what are the data structures, how
they are used, how protocol modularity is achieved, ...
More over can I ask if anyone can explain me how the things are
working for what is beeing implemented.
Ethernet cards have both an RX and TX trheads, applications are linked
with the library providing sockets but what about nuts and bolts in
the middle ?
I know this is a very "global" question and that we are working on the
topic right now but I'm looking to have a global picture of the thing.
Maybe I can mail privately someone to discuss this, maybe an IRC
meeting could be envisaged or do you prefer to keep the discussion on
this list?
Regards,
Emmanuel
