BTW, maybe you remember me, I was at BeGeistert last year October. Tall Dutch guy. Anyway, I looked at all the screenshots (1-7) and this is what I like/ don't like. From the 7 I like the one with the "Manage" button. Three seperate buttons clutters the interface a bit too much, I think. Adding/removing profiles are actions you do much less than configuring your settings for a profile. So no need to have a very direct access to them. OTOH, an option in the option list saying "Manage.." may be a bit too burried, and illogical. See my attachment for an example of what I think could be behind the manage button. I also like the option with the "Profile" label best, it's better than configuration or so. And I prefer "Profile" over "Profiles", cause I read the screen as: "Profile <selected profile> has these settings for <selected addon>", rather "These are the profiles <list of profiles". And I like the "(current)" added label to the profile currently in action. How's saving done btw, as you type? I mean no need to explicitly save changes? That would be the best I think, but a "Revert" button could be a handy thing. As you already did. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is what the user will think of the button "Apply Now": does that apply the new settings, or does it also change the profile that is active? Maybe these should be seperated. In this light, it may be better to set the label "Manage Profiles" instead of "Manage", or the user can misinterpret "Manage" as "ah Manage can be managing all the attributes of the profile from the list". It must be clear that is a meta button surpassing all the profiles in the list, and not applying to a single profile in the list. I also think the View label with drop down list should be aligned left, and perhaps "Edit" is a more appropriate term. Also, "inetd services" is a bit unclear, maybe there should be a naming convention for more descriptive labels, as well as an API for setting that name, that the GUI could extract from that Addon. Wow, that's easy, giving comments from the sideline ;-). I hope you have some help with these comments (if you can even follow them), I'm just thinking out loud. I thank you a lot for your hard work, and don't wan't to bash you. Bash back if you want ;-) I have a very busy job, else I would really want to contribute. And I don't even have children ;-) Greetings, Rogier -- rogier@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.vanderhee.net -- Fortune Cookie Says: The National Short-Sleeved Shirt Association says: Support your right to bare arms!
