The #1 missing feature is that USB printers support is not complete yet
under Haiku!
As most users who will try to print will have an usb printer, I'll bet
that's our top blocker for R1...

Currently, "USB Port" transport add-on rely on an working
/dev/printer/usb/0 entry, but we don't have, as we don't have any
usb_printer driver under Haiku yet.
Maybe we don't need to write a kernel driver. USB transport add-on could do
all by itself using the userland USB Kit.
But it should be done *somewhere* ;-)

Agreed.
Plus the discussion show that some evolution is not limited to printing kit
but relate to Translation Kit too.
Which was my point actually: this wider evolution is meat for R2, not R1.

So, let's finish USB printers support first, right.

Bye,
  Philippe.
