A HUTTON'S VIREO singing, quite briefly 3/27 about 8:30am. They typically sing
as early as
December if there's a sun break. Today is the first time this year(24 years'
observation). One
spring there was a HUVI nest with three eggs on this date at this location.
A PYGMY OWL tooting a few minutes later, also a first this year.
A PURPLE FINCH singing for the first time, no doubt arrived this morning. This
is only a few
days later than average.
I heard a RUFOUS HUMMER in Gladstone 3/25. Maybe I should put the feeder up
here,
though there is surely no natural source of food anywhere nearby.
I can't recall a March with so few postings on Obol. Seems more subdued than
February.
