The biggest patch of light sky seemed to be to the northwest today, so I
visited the Grimes Road marsh. It took a while, but I eventually heard a
Common Yellowthroat calling. I finally heard one song. A yellowthroat later
called from the other side of the road, but I don't know whether it was the
same bird and it had sneaked across the road, or a different bird. It did not
sing there. According to a phenology I looked at for the Willamette Valley,
today is the expected arrival date for Common Yellowthroat.
Later, a Northern Pygmy-Owl began calling and kept at it until I left, and
probably longer.
