[nvda] Re: writing scripts for NVDA

well a bit of knowledge of algebra is needed for pretty much any programming language you choose. That is after all how computers work, they crunch numbers. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josh" <jkenn337@xxxxxxxxx>

I hope I don't or won't need to learn lots of math formulas to program in python. Otherwise I'm pretty much out of luck.

Also, I was looking at NVDA scripts. How do you get the window-handles and things? I'm used to the jaws homerow mode and script manager where it gives you a list of all possible functions in jaws scripting. But I don't imagine python has a home-row mode, so then how do you get window handles?
Answer: The window handles are obtained through MSAA and through IAccessible2.
Also, is the python development environment smaller than that of visual basic?
Answer: Yes and you can also go to www.python.org to find out more about the Python Programming language.
Also, I see there are directX support for it. so if it supports stereo
sound and panning I should be able to write audio games in it. once I learn it.
Answer: go for it and best of luck to you

If you are talking about open office, I understand that that particularsuite of applications uses java which is the problem for screenreaders. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Josh" <jkenn337@xxxxxxxxx>

Hi,

Could scripts be written to read the menus in that word processor program you're discussing? Also, have any of you ever heard of the free open-office suite of software? I think it's for windows. Jaws and window-eyes never have and still don't work with it. It'd be nice if NVDA would have full support for it. Oh, also, if I put or run NVDA on my uncle's notebook laptop computer, how do I access the insert key if it doesn't have a numberpad? Also the mouse is just a touch-screen you run your finger over. so if I move the mouse with my finger in vista, will NVDA tell me what the mouse is moving over so I can click on it and stuff? Also, do they sell USB mouse touchpads for desktops so you don't need a physical mouse, you just run your hand over a flat surface and the mouse moves with your finger or a stylus? If so, are they expensive? Does NVDA work with them? Also, I was looking at NVDA scripts. How do you get the window-handles and things? I'm used to the jaws homerow mode and script manager where it gives you a list of all possible functions in jaws scripting. But I don't imagine python has a home-row mode, so then how do you get window handles? Also, is the python development environment smaller than that of visual basic?
