[nvda] Re: what do you think about a name change?

I too like NVDA the way it is. I don't ever recall using Flipper, but I've heard of that screen reader.

NVDA is staying NVA for now.

BTW: There is a product called Flipper, which is a portable camera/screen for vision impaired users.

I don't really like the idea of picking up a name from a dead product either.

hey! I have an idea. Why not call it Flipper? There was a DOS screen reader called Flipper, but the people who made it went out of business very quickly. And who knows, maybe if you call it Flipper you'll get the original makers of the DOS Flipper's attention. I really like the name flipper for the screen reader. It's lots easier to say than NVDA or nonvisual desktop access. Or, what about TinyTalk for Windows? Or how about, provox for windows? Provox was a DOS screen reader as well. But I still like Flipper.

Hi there. I'm just wondering, have you michael or james ever thought of having a name change for NVDA?
or are you not planning that far ahead yet?
I've been mulling the idea over in my mind and am thinking maybe NVDA non visual desktop access might be a bit hard for non english speakers to pronounce, and some people who haven't heard of the software may get it confused with NVidia corporation.
What do you guys think?
Thanks.
