Hi Benjamin,
In regards to NVDA working on Windows Ce, well, my first gut feeling is to
say that it wouldn't work. But, having seen random bits of info on MSDN
while looking for win32 api stuff for NVDA, it seems that Windows CE is
gaining more and more of the win32 api calls. I have no idea if it has MSAA
yet; if it does, well, then perhaps (as long as there is a Python for
windows Ce) perhaps that isn't such a remote possibility.
So the idea bout a mobile keyboard layout might be ok *if* NVDA can be
hacked to run on Ce.
I also like the idea about people being able to download other non-default
keymaps. I was also thinking, perhaps we don't just have to have a 'laptop'
layout, but things like 'toshiba' or 'toshiba_tecra' or 'IBM' ... etc since
laptop keyboards seem to be so different these days.
Mick

Mick, I'm so glad to hear you've made the keyboard configurable; that
should make it a lot easier to test out NVDA, for me at least
<smile /> .

I am personally not going to try creating a laptop keyboard layout, I

I
can include it in NVDA. However, of course I can't have like 6 laptop
layouts, so in the end we will have to choose one.
Why not choose one default one, but offer alternate layouts sent in by
users as separate downloads at SourceForge?
*Added a 'keyboardLayout' setting to the keyboard section of nvda.ini.
This
is a string, and by default it is 'desktop'. In theory this can be
anything,
but another value that will be most likely recognised by NVDA would be
'laptop'.
Just a thought about this: would NVDA theoretically be able to run on
Windows CE (Embedded)? If so you might like to think about recognizing a
"mobile" layout too.
