[nvda] Re: portable NVDA question

The creators of NNVDA were thinking of addng the autorun.inf file to the pen/CD version, which was my idea awhile back, but it hasn't happened yet. Wondering if they still can add it to the pre 2 release of 0.6.

Hi
Copy the following text into notepad.

[autorun]
open=nvda\nvda.exe
Action=Start NVDA
icon=nvda\nvda.exe
shell\NVDA="Start NVDA"
shell\NVDA\command=nvda\nvda.exe

Save this as a file called autorun.inf

Save this file onto the pen drive where your portable version of NVDA is (Eg. H drive or whatever letter your pen drive is). Make sure that this file is saved into the main drive root directory. Do not put it in the NVDA folder as it will not work. (Eg. when you put your pen drive in, it should say (whatever the name of the files folders are on that drive) and the autorun.inf should be on the list of stuff on that pen drive.

Now, that you have saved it in the portable drive, remove your usb stick and put it back in again. This time, if your computer has an autorun funciton (like when you put in a cd and it runs it automatically) then it should come up as the first option. Press enter and NVDA will start for you!

Let me know how you go with this.

Hi,

Your NVDA settings are saved on your thumb drive, in the NVDA folder.

HTH! Not sure about the other stuff though.

Subject: [nvda] portable NVDA question

Hi,
I have the portabl version of NVDA on my USB drive. When I save the configuration and other data that NVDA saves, is it stored on my thumb drive? Also I have portable thunderbird and portable mozilla firefox. I see that their profiles are stored I think on the local computer. Is there a way I could make a new profile and make it store all data on the thumb drive instead of the local machine that I'm currently using such as a library computer? Is anything left behind also when I use the portable NVDA latest snapshot? Also I don't see the profile manager in portable thunderbird so I can make a new profile and store it on my thumb drive. Is it not there in the portable version? When I'm using my portable software in a library here, I don't want anything to be left behind on that machine if you know what I mean, if I can help it. that includes firefox cookies and mozilla thunderbird profiles.
