[nvda] Re: pocket NVDA

Gabe

First, frankly, your conduct on the list, constantly engaging in personal attacks that have no relevance to the discussion defines you as an ill-mannered boor. I'm not defining you as such, you have defined yourself in this way. No one who knows what constitutes reasoned and mature discussion engages in such activities. Whatever people you know think of Darrel, your remark about professionalism has nothing to do with the topic at hand and is completely inappropriate. You also display an unfortunate tendency to boast and aggrandize yourself. Is this a sign of insecurity? Anyone who is great, I.E. a tech of all techs and is secure in that self-assessment doesn't feel a need to brag about it. You earn respect by displaying your knowledge where appropriate, not by proclaiming it in a tag line attached to every message.

Now, to the substance of the discussion, while I don't see any danger in disclosing income, it is irrelevant to the discussion and is also considered by many to be a private matter. In addition, don't forget that your mail is not restricted to the list. There is no encryption and any e-mail that is not encrypted can be seen by lots of people as it moves from computer to computer on it's way to or from the e-mail server. No one who understands this puts private or sensitive information in unencrypted e-mails. They are not ever private whether people think they are or not. I don't care what anyone earns on the list. I care about whether they know what they are talking about and discuss matters in a civil manner. You completely fail the civility test. This even after the list moderator specifically asked that personal attacks not be engaged in. As far as what you know, I am no technical expert so I won't attempt to evaluate that. However, comparing the depth of knowledge in your comments to those of other posters, it appears that you don't do too well on the knowledge test either.

I'll advise you that many managers techs and other professionals in
my circles who know you seem to think that word "Professional" isn't
even heard of with you sir.
