[nvda] Re: ow to install the portable version

I found that a couple of my machines do not support this too, but one does and if the rules are followed it does indeed work well.

Hi Jose,

The above link is off the NVDA website on how to set one up. Basically,
make sure that the portable version is unzipped to your usb stick. You
will need to create a directory called NVDA on that drive. You will
also need to download the autorun.inf file. Make sure you put the inf
file into the main root directory (not inside any folder on that usb
stick/drive). If this file is put inside a folder it will not work! It
must be in the main screen (root directory) of that stick. Eg. if your
Kingston drive is E:, then it must be straight in the E drive and not
inside any folder on that E drive. The inf file should point towards the
NVDA.exe file if done correctly. When you go to plug the stick into your
pc, it should come up with a autorun screen if this facility is turned
on. You may need to check to see if this is enabled, or update your
service pack with Windows. If this works, start NVDA should appear on
the screen as an option at the top. Press enter and it should work.

Good luck
Gene

Hi. I would prefer to load NVDA automatically. So, I went to nvda page
to see what kind of procedures to take.

Then, I copied the portable version to my kingstone's portable hard
drive and autorun.inf file.

However, it doesn't work. Any help will be apreciated. Best regards,

You don't. You just type the full path to the NVDA program. So, for
example,
if you created a folder called NVDA on to the root of your flash
drive, and
your flash drive was assigned drive letter E, then you'd type:
e:\nvda\nvda.exe. Once you've done that press enter. Note the .exe
extension
is completely optional since the run dialogue box assumes you want to
run a
program if you don't type an extension.

Hi list. How do you install the portable version of nvda to a
usb flash drive. I have a flash drive and a copy of the portable
version but I wasn't sure how to install it. Any help is
appreciated.
Thanks.
