[nvda] Re: nvda will not read messages in thunderbird and it used to do so.

Maybe its a bit like nvda, it has pre release but until everyone is happy they won't commit themselves. I have not tried it for a while, as I said before, i find the logic in it a bit odd for the way i work, but each to their own.

Perhaps they found bugs last minute.

Seems to be taking them a long time to get a release out of version three.
I thought I read originally it was due about a month and a half ago!

Hi Alan,

Sounds like you are trying to use an NVDA snapshot with Thunderbird 2.
Thunderbird 2 does not have the required accessibility support to
function well with NVDA. See here:
http://www.nvda-project.org/wiki/ApplicationSupport#MozillaThunderbird

Previously, we had some code which allowed documents to be read (to an
extent) in older Mozilla applications such as Thunderbird 2, but this
code was buggy and slow at best, so it was recently removed.

You have two options: use a pre-release of Thunderbird 3 or downgrade to
an official release of NVDA.

Right, seems like writing email while half asleep is a bad idea.
anyway, i'm awake now, so let's try this again.
nvda used to say 'loading document' and 'done' when i loaded a message
to read in thunderbid.
then it would read the message fine.
now, it doesn't say those things, and is also unable to read messages
in
thunderbird.
is this a thunderbird issue or an nvda issue and is there something i
can do for it besides pasting the contents of the message window into
notepad to read thm, because that's what i have to do now and it is a
bit annoying.

im stuck with portable stuff, since i don't have my own machine. is there
a portable release of pre tb 3?
i'm leaning towards that option, because i don't want to downgrade my
nvda if i can help it.
