what is the source trunc version? When will this be available as a binary for us ordinary nonprogramer users?

The version referred to as the "source trunk" version is the development code. Yes it is true that a SAPI4 driver is currently in the development code, but there are still problems with SAPI4 support, particularly it appears in the area of synth selection. So unless you want to run code which may well be buggy, I suggest waiting for a binary release.

If you really want to try running development sources, read http://wiki.nvda-project.org/index.php?title=Accessing_and_running_source_code

I'm not a developer, but I would speculate that a release will be made as soon after the SAPI4 driver is stabilised as possible, since the developers are well aware of the high level of interest in such a driver. Note though that there have been some other major internal changes since the last release so the developers may want to make sure that NVDA is relatively stable generally before pumping out a release.

Keep in mind that NVDA releases should still be considered alpha software at this stage, and development code should be considered bleeding edge code which may do anything or nothing on any given day.

Geoff.
