[nvda] Re: nvda and u3 apps

hello listers i am still open to ideas for a way to autostart NVDA on a u3 thumb drive.i am not a programmer but i have the upmost respect for those of you that are. i am an automotive tech and i would like to haveNVDA to use on an automotive diagnostic
computer because it leaves no tracks. the state told me
that i could use my screen reader as long as i could
connect and unconnect it when i needed to use it.
sorry for my rambeling any help would be grately appreciated.

You need to do the following:
1 - Create a pendrive/USB/standalone version of the program. This must
be able to run from a USB stick.
2 - Create a simple manifest file for the program and provide an icon.
3 - Assemble the files together in the correct format and zip them up.
4 - Rename the zip file to u3p, e.g. NVDA.u3p

You can then insert the U3 stick and import/load your NVDA build.

I've done this before: the bit you need to find out are steps 2 and 3.
I believe you can sign up on the U3 site as a developer and get a
guide on how to do the work. It's not difficult but it is esoteric.
You can't just use an autorun.inf file.

If you format the drive you'll lose the automatic-starting U3 ability for ever.

hello jeremy and listers i am still trying to get nvda to auto start using a
u3 scandisk but for some reason i always get a u3 scandisk splash screen
there seems to be 2 partitions on the disk one is called drive m and i can
format this one but another is called drive l and this one says it is
scandisk system and this one you cannot format nor can you delete any files
from it.
i am at a loss here can i use this u3 drive to auto start nvda or not and if
i can would someone be so kind as to walk me through how to do it.
thanks for all your help and time, andy.
