Actually, since the Flash ActiveX plugin, used by Internet Explorer, exposes content to MSAA, it's not at all impossible that NVDA works with Flash as well as other screen readers. I haven't tested it though.

Firefox users should note that content is now also exposed to MSAA in the latest beta release of the Flash "Windows plugin" (that is, the non-ActiveX plugin, used by Firefox and other browsers). If you uninstall your current Flash players and plugins, you can get install that beta release from:

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer9.html

I'd strongly encourage the braver among you to try this out with sites that use Flash accessibility features, such as www.jkrowling.com, and report to Adobe about anything that seems not to work properly. If an issue is NVDA-specific, it would be worth working out if it's an NVDA bug, a Firefox bug, or an Adobe bug.

One important caveat is that there is a known bug with tabbing out of Flash content in Firefox:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348279

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93149

So you may find you need to use the mouse keys for some things.
