eSpeak won't slow down the computer.  It uses about 30MHz worth of
computer power.  So if your computer runs at 1500MHz, then it takes
about 2% of its processing power.  It's not even noticeable on my CPU
usage meter. If it feels slow, then the problem is latency, not slowing
down the computer.
