Your assumption is not warranted. If the original poster had explained why he was looking for what he was looking for, I would have framed my response differently. What I said before is still valid. You have to buy a scanner. If you buy the correct brand and model of scanner, OCR software is provided free. If you can't get the correct brand and model for some reason, then you may have a problem. The original question simply asked about free OCR software. I gave my evaluation of the free software based on information provided on the web site. At that time, the question of affordability for those outside of the United States had not been raised. I responded to the question as asked.
