[nvda] Re: nvda and OCR software

well, I don't think there is currently a good freeware / open source OCR software, for the simple fact that OCR technology require a lot of investment in research & developpement, and this costs a lot of money. so it will probably take some time before we will ever have an open source alternative to commercial OCR software.

same actually for text-to-speech, making a good multilingual TTS cost a lot of money, cause if you want to do it properly one must work with people specializing in native languages etc. not only computer programmers. That's why we don't have yet a good open source multilingual speech synthesizer.

but I'm sure this will come in the future. if only IBM could make their technology available as open source.
Maybe we could make a petition.
