[nvda] Re: no changes to nvda trunk for nearly 3 days?

I don't have one single source, it's a figure I've seen off and on when I read reports in the media about market share of the main browsers.

Gene, what is your source for the statement "Internet Explorer still has about 70 percent of the Internet use market?" I'm not taking sides, just requesting information.

Here we go again. More irrational Microsoft bashing and anti closed source hostility. Internet Explorer still has about 70 percent of the Internet use market, like it or not. What if someone is working at a job that requires that Internet Explorer be used? What if at some point some sites use the dot Net Framework which, as I understand matters, is not supported by Firefox. What if a web site doesn't work well with Firefox because of Active X controls or some other reason I am unaware of. Instead of imposing your biases on what programs are supported, maybe a trip to the real world is in order. If NVDA is being developed strictly for the open source community, then if that community doesn't want Internet Explorer support, that's fine. If NVDA ever becomes a truly wide spread program in its use, most users won't care in the slightest whether it is an open source program. They will care if it supports the applications they either want or need to use.

Writing off a browser as the past which has 70 percent of the market is nothing but bias and condlusions based on no supporting evidence.

Jamie I agree with you! Firefox is a future, IE is the past and also closed-source, so anybody who wants IE support in an open-source screen reader, he can sit down and start to learn programming and then make this support for yourself. Anybody smart enough will switch to Firefox without any problems, plus will get even better, faster and much stable Web browser, and it even takes less memory.

These changes are necessary in order for formatting information to be read properly in various programs, including Firefox where formatting currently isn't read at all. It makes our support for Firefox more complete, as well as giving us a framework for implementing formatting easily for other applications. If you don't want to wait for the IE support to be rewritten, you're very welcome to start the job yourself. :)
