The changes to voice variant files which people here have been
experimenting with won't change the English "accent" significantly. 
Instead they are the equivalent of different people, with different
heads, speaking the same accent.

To help improve the eSpeak "American" voice (en-r), listen carefully
try to identify what sounds wrong, and then tell me what to change. 
Perhaps little-by-little it can improve.
