I don't think so, as you're interrupting the speech whilst typing the message.
If you turn off the speaking of characters while you type, you might start to
hear messages come in even though you're typing. So my suggestion would be to
have the ability to allow the user to tell NVDA whether to interrupt speech
within certain situations, like typing and reading.

ok,
I'm talking still about r1037 but I think there aren't changes on messenger,
so:
NVDA now speaks all incoming messages, but there is a problem: if I'm writing
a message and in the same time a message is incoming, NVDA doesn't speak that
message.
So sometime I miss some answers, and I can read them only going to the
history window.
do you think it is possibile to solve this?
