If you used the BRLTTY installer, you don't need to run install.bat. It won't do any harm, though.

Sounds like libusb didn't initialise proerly or something. Did you install libusb first? If you didn't, you will need to restart brltty, which is currently a bit tricky unless you know how ot restart services.

When moving letter by letter, the curser is not on the capital sign,
when using English US contracted Braille.
This is subjective. Some will argue it should appear above the letter, others that it should appear on the capital sign. We have no control over this anyway; it is handled by liblouis.
