[nvda] Re: configuration files

NVDA has been written as a free alternative to other commercial screen readers.

It is for people who can not pay for the others, and first and formost makes sure that the user is able to access the most important things, not necessarily the most fassionable or technical things.

NVDA can report graphics, if you can get to them with the object navigation, or if they are passed while reading a dialog box or such.

There is no current move to ad labeling to these graphics as NVDA does not really need them. Unless someone of course can give me a very practical re-produceble example. Also because we have no off-screen model, there is only certain info we can use to identify the graphics, such as location and size.

Writing appModules and NVDAObjects can allow NVDA to be extended to how ever you like, the possibilities are limitless. Also remember that because its all open-source, in fact any of NVDA's code can be tailored to your liking.

I am aware that not all people like, nore have the skills needed to program, but the goal of NVDA is not to make it as simple as possible to tailor for specific problems, but to give a user access to the operating system, for no cost.

If you need this type of access, then of course you still have the option of buying a product that is worked on by people who get payd.

My hope is that NVDA will work in most common situations well enough so that normal users won't have to touch scripting or set special screen rectangles. However, if someone has the skill, they are of course most welcome to dive in to the code and cintribute as much as they like.
