[nvda] Re: about the new service

I guess the only situation I can think of where you might want to leave no traces and still have admin rights is if you are setting up computers for onward use by others and do not want clutter etc, on the machine, but frankly, the tiny amount of space and registry used by the installed version is hardly going to be a problem I'd have thought.

I see it can now work with the login screen. Good job. Will this also work with the portable version once it has been started and you log out?
To restate the answer that has already been given: no. As has also been
stated, this is because a service must be installed by an administrator
to work. This is not just a Windows limitation; it is also done for
security. The login screen is a "secure" screen, meaning that no user
application should be able to access it. Otherwise, user applications
could obtain user passwords very easily. As to adding registry keys, the
portable version is supposed to run without administrative privileges
and without leaving any trace on the system, both of which would be
invalidated by such a change.
