[nvda] Re: a suggestion for keyboard combinations in NVDA.

In the app modules folder there is a file named _default_keyboard.kbd. Open that file in note pad and you will see how the default keys are assigned. ----- Original Message ----- From: "The BlindTechs Network" <info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

so is there an ini file entry or a preference setting to accomplish this now?

I'll be glad to go and do this if some one told me what to do. I just don't feel like digging through readme files and such.

with kindest regards

I have another suggestion concerning those like me using NVDA on
laptops. Why not include a laptop layout, or at least the ability to
change the "modifier" key for NVDA. Again this isn't urgent, but it's
quite hard having to press FN + a key + another key. Yes, I have an
insert key on the laptop, but I do not have a number pad, and I don't
wish to use one since I don't feel the need. Thanks.

For the developers of NVDA: I have a suggestion. To add a feature to
delay the key pressing, when pressing a combination.
I noticed that NVDA manages the Windows sticky keys very well.
Sticky keys is the functionality found in Windows control panel, or
activated by pressing the left shift key for 5 times, which allows
people with hands disabilities, to write on the keyboard with only one
hand.
Since Jaws 4.5x (the bug persists in 8.0 too) this functionality has
serious problems, the left Windows key remains stuck, when used to
manage desktop, start menu, etc.
And, in Jaws, there is a flag called "insert key mode" which allows
to have the same effect of sticky keys, with Insert key: that is, you
press insert, then have some seconds of delay, to find out the other
key to press, and then you press the second and/or third key combination
It'd be nice for NVDA users to have this capability too, for example,
a hand-disabled person using only the right hand, could not exit NVDA
quickly, as another could do, using insert+q key as the keys are the
opposit.
well, it could be done from menu, but it's more difficult
Take it for a future suggestion, it's not a fix to do now.
