instead of having to go into the registry which is not recommended for the more 
inexperinenced user, one can just run msconfig and then unmark the programs not 
wanted and /or needed at startup in system start.
as always when altering program behaviour be careful not to unmark programs the 
os needs to run.

  You have to edit the registry to do this.  However, the part of the registry 
you are working with does not really seem very dangerous to me.
