[nvda] Re: What would it take for a graphics dictionary

Thanks for the response. It seems a bit of a crude technique and potentially bulky, but may be I am forgetting how many situations graphics aren't the only way, and icon graphics aren't that large really (I think when graphics are mentioned I think of files containing a photo which is much larger).
Note that the graphics dictionary is not a map of the actual graphic images to text. It is just a map of graphic IDs to text. I'm not sure how other screen readers calculate the IDs they use and I'm not sure what determines whether a graphic will show up as a graphic in those screen readers. I assume any icons will show up, but it must only be if it is displayed in a certain way (loading an icon into an image editor won't render as a graphic in JAWS, for example).

being reminded of it as both my linux system or when I am using window-eyes I get this extra information about emails. Outlook express is probably only one of a few cases when a graphics dictionary would be useful, just a shame its such an obvious thing though.
Indeed. Outlook Express doesn't expose this information any other way except through graphics, which is very annoying.
