True, but there are potential issues with supporting USB under Windows for certain braille displays. Anyway, it was just a suggestion. My thoughts would be to make a braille driver API similar to the current synthesiser API and then create a general brltty driver from that, rather than restricting the drivers to brltty. That way, any braille driver library can be used, whether it be brltty, libbraille, etc. This driver model would need to be designed correctly from the start to avoid potential problems, so it'd probably require a considerable amount of discussion.
