[nvda] Re: WebVisum and NVDA

In the information about this problem, the developers specifically say that if you need an invitation and don't know anyone to give you one, you should contact them. Also, probably a large number of people who know enough to know about Webvisum already know someone who uses it and can get an invitation from them. GMail was by invitation only for years and getting invitations was no problem for a large number or perhaps most people who wanted to subscribe.

In this case, you are on an e-mail list where more than one person is a member of Webvisum already.

As far as another comment on this thread is concerned, if captchas didn't pose a major hindrance for spammers, then why did spammers try to use Webvisum to the extent that the invitation only change was needed. There are companies which sell their services to spammers for decoding captchas. Spammers pay companies to have this done either by lo wage human workers or by attempts to do so with OCR. Spammers trying to use sites like Craig's List, GMail, Yahoo Mail, etc. to send huge amounts of spam are very real.

Yes, a different captcha system will have to be developed because spammers are getting better at getting around the current system. When the new system is being developed, those interested will need to make accessibility a pressing issue.

Subject: [nvda] WebVisum and NVDA

Since something has been posted here already about WebVisum I'll follow up with this; seeing, we have the current situation which the previous post on this gave us as to the caution being taken to avoid more spamming. None of us like spam and it's unfortunate that it's happening. But, we in the blindness community should not have to jump through hoops to get the service which is designed to solve our captia problems. But, since we cannot register without being invited, the captia clause is still current! How is one to know who is a member and who isn't so as to ask for a code? My wife had to help me be able to join Google account, and, now I'm looking at YouTube. So, now I've posted here and have written to the comment, tell us, section of the web visum site. Now, I shall let it lie at this point.
