[nvda] Re: Unable to get NVDA to load nvda.ini

Hi Michael,

It says that the nvda.ini is 4KB but when I open it, it is blank!

I had uninstalled it. reinstalled it, and checked what you have told me.

Thanks a lot.
Hope this helps.

Hi,

I Think your NVDA config file is a bit mucked up. We would really like to solve this issue, as its happened to a few people.

Could you please send me your nvda log file, after trying to run your installed copy of NVDA?

It can be found by typing %temp% in the Windows explorer address bar and then pressing enter. (Include the percent signs).
nvda.log should be in that directory.

Note that NVDA overrides this file all the time so you will have to use another screen reader such as narrator to retreave the file straight after the installed NVDA has terminated.

It would also be useful if you could send along your NVDA config file, which can be found in the nvda directory inside your user application data directory.

Try typing %appdata%\nvda in the Windows explorer address bar and then pressing enter. nvda.ini should be in that directory.

After sending nvda.log and nvda.ini via email, you can try deleting nvda.ini, and hopefully your newly installed NVDA should function correctly again ... if the problem is in deed the one I think it is.

However, for us to solve this problem for the future, we really need to see both the log file and the config file if that is possible.

I admit trying to find all these files is a bit of work, we may consider trying to improve this in the near future.

Thanks
Mick

Hi everyone

I have the latest snapshot of NVDA, and when I go to install it, it
comes up with a "stop" sound but no error message on the screen. It
will let me go through the process of installing it, but will not load
at all. I even tried uninstalling it, deleting out the old directories
and reinstalling but still no luck.

With having visitors here, I haven't used the computer in over a week,
but up until then it was working perfectly.
My old spare version 0.5 works fine, but I like to test the snapshots
and am wondering what else can I check? Are there any other places to
check? I am running Xp pro SP3.

Thanks

there is no sound when trying to install it apart from the 2 sound like
critual stops sounds. Then after that it goes to load then dies. is
there a audio file that could be mucking upor files gone astray that I
may have to find. It will work if i use my usb stick with nvda on itjk.
I don't know it seem to startup then die
