Well, it could be that the .ini file is screwed up I suppose. I was going to
suggest that you had not updated for a long time and it was leaving bits of
the old version behind, but you appear to have covered that one...
You mention your old version. Is this a portable version? One suggestion
here is to get the portable version and set it up in a folder somewhere and
see what happens. If you set up a shortcut, you can always run it and
see/hear what the error bong was. The .ini file is in
C:\Documents and Settings\brian gaff\Application Data\nvda
on my machine, so you will obviously have a different string where I have my
name!
Delete the old settings file and then do a clean install of the snapshot.
You will of course need to set up all your preferences again. I cannot
recall if .5 put the file there or not, but if it does, then it will screw
it again if you run it, I imagine. Its very old and really needs the dustbin
treatment
If none of this works, over to the clever mob...

Hi everyone
I have the latest snapshot of NVDA, and when I go to install it, it
comes up with a "stop" sound but no error message on the screen. It
will let me go through the process of installing it, but will not load
at all. I even tried uninstalling it, deleting out the old directories
and reinstalling but still no luck.
With having visitors here, I haven't used the computer in over a week,
but up until then it was working perfectly.
My old spare version 0.5 works fine, but I like to test the snapshots
and am wondering what else can I check? Are there any other places to
check? I am running Xp pro SP3.
Thanks

I forgot to mention when you go to install it kills the sound of nvda
so there is no sound when trying to install it apart from the 2 sound
like critual stops sounds. Then after that it goes to load then dies.
is there a audio file that could be mucking upor files gone astray that
I may have to find. It will work if i use my usb stick with nvda on
itjk. I don't know it seem to startup then die
