was just wondering because back when I used jaws, when I would download books from the bard site, it would take around 12 to 20 minutes to download a book, and after I installed NVDA, I downloaded 3 books that only took around 6 minutes, and yes my comnputer does boot up faster as well, I have an old computer with only 512 megs of memory, and a 2.4 CPU, however, with NVDA, it works rather well for it's age. confucious say: man who keep feet firmly planted on ground, have trouble putting on pants. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matthew" <heavenswrath01@xxxxxxxxx>

Well, I haven't noticed my downloads being any faster as of yet, but who knows, that might improve over time. I do notice however that my computer is much faster at starting up and shutting down because the memory hog known as jaws isn't there anymore. lol. I agree as well. Unfortunately due to financial constraints I am unable to donate at this time. But NVDA is truly a wonderful screen reader. In fact I have just completely removed Jaws from my computer. I'm strictly NVDA all the way. As soon as I am able to afford it I will gladly donate to this very worthy cause. In the meantime I hope NVDA continues to improve and that it one day destroys the monopoly of Freedom Scientific and, to a lesser extent, GW Micro. Although I can't complain to much about GW Micro, as they have provided GW Connect, an accessible skype client which works beautifully with NVDA. Freedom Scientific has taken no such strides, believing their screen reader is the one and only, the best. This, of course, is not the case. I aggree, its on my list.
Maybe I'll donate, or maybe when I get my new computer if I end up with a couple hundred spare I'll upgrade my speech engine with ivona which will give automatic donations. Since I will probably buy all english uk and us voices and maybe a japanese voice just for some games they will get a few bucks at least from that. its on my mind to donate, and some time in my life when I can afford to donate yearly I will do so.

They need to live like us, and are working hard to do a good thing.
