I see no reason that the portable version should be assumed to be intended
only or mainly for portable use. It does everything the other version does
and does not require the inconvenience of installation. I always use the
portable version on my machine. I can see where an inexperienced or not
very knowledgeable user might prefer the installation version. It creates
shortcuts. But a knowledgeable user does not need short cuts created and
can do so him/herself.

Hi Brian,
I think this would be useless and could be annoying for many people. But
I have got another idea. When extracting the portable archive, it could
suggest a default folder, containing the version of the snapshoot. For
example, your archive is on c:\. Then, it could suggest c:\nvdar2816 or
so by default.
