Yes, to a point, but are ppl really mostly that dumb? No one ever taught

me more than use the arrows, (that I figured out on my own actually) and

then tab...took a while before I discovered shift tab, and then I
started looking through options in menus in JFW and many things I did
not understand completely I tried..others made no sense to me, and as I
could do most of what I wanted, I have not bothered yet with most of
them...NVDA was a breeze after all those choices, many of which were not

organized exactly as I would have liked.
Object navigation waited till NVDA was good enough to use for most of my

day to to day work...I.E.. when 2009-beta came out, and then it did take

me a couple of examples to start and get it.
OK, a little kid, some one with learning disabilities, or someone who is

not at technically minded will have problems with programing a watch,
microwave, and probably need help with calculators, but I am disgusted
with an educationally system that makes learning NVDA a majorly
difficult task.
I'm sorry for the rant, and I'm not even disagreeing with most of what
you say, but I'm just tired of lazy ppl, and a society that tolerates
them. You are perhaps old enough Gene, Brian is for sure, and Dave Mack,

to remember when there was nothing but paper for blind folk, and if NVDA

and winxp had been around we would have spent the couple of weeks needed

to learn it enough to take care of biz, and keep on working with these
tools till we were good at using them...Anyone remember the opticon? How

long did it take to use this just a little? Not very user-friendly, h
but some folks were able to go to work with the help of this cumbersome
device...(not because it was big, but it was really tedious to
use)...writing this with orca, and it makes me appreciate NVDA..keyboard

echo is like pico but worse...
My last point is that most of us are coming from rich developed
countries, but most blind ppl live in poor countries, where even fairly
good employment will not give them the income to purchase a $100+
program...just getting the computer will be a struggle for most of them,

so as we consider where NVDA needs to go; and what it lacks in some work

situations....let's remember that many folks are willing to work to
learn, and work around.
Be grateful for what we have, and pay back the good luck when are where
ever possible.
Burt
