Subject: [nvda] Spell checking with NVDA

I haven't quite gotten the hang of using spell check with NVDA. MSWord
does not seem to handle that in an intuitive manner. Since I'm
sighted, I can see the wavy red line under the mis-spelled word, but
Vicki can't.

I thought I read something about a keystroke sequence that you can use
to position on a word in a document and have it spelled out for you,
but I can't seem to locate that anywhere. Did I just imagine that?
Vicki is a very good speller, so if I could give her a way to have
NVDA spell out words on command, that would probably be adequate for
now. If you can tell me how to do that, I would appreciate it greatly.

BTW, Vicki is coming along quite well. We have figured out a keystroke
sequence to unlock her Vista laptop (it seems to lock up at random,
but probably because she hits a wrong key), and she has been able to
locate, read, and reply to emails. She is also getting better at
figuring out what programs are running, and how to navigate between
them. With daily practice, I think she will be ready to subscribe to
this list in a couple of weeks.
