[nvda] Re: Speech of NVDA

I haven't paid enough attention to finding other synthesizers to give you
that information. As far as using other synthesizers is concerned, open
the NVDA menu, insert n. Open Preferences Find synthesizers in the
dialog and press enter. You will see items such as SAPI5, SAPI 4,
E-Speak, and perhaps one or two other items. If you have a SAPI 4
synthesizer on your computer, you can select that item and press enter.
Then the SAPI 4 synthesizer will be used. If not, I don't think yyou will
have speech. and that's an example of why not to use save settings on
exit. You can restore your earlier speech settings if you don't have save
on exit enabled by closing NVDA, then runnint it again. Another option is
to use the command alt insert r which reverts to the saved settings
without having to close and restart NVDA.

If you choose SAPI 5, some other synthesizer will start to be used. You
have at least one SAPI 5 voice on your computer, probably Microsoft Anna
or Microsoft Sam. Once you select SAPI 5 and press enter, you can see any
other SAPI voice you may have by opening the NVDA menu again, opening
preferences again, down arrowing to voices and pressing enter. You are in
a list of all SAPI 5 voices on your computer. If you have more than one,
you can move to the one you want to use, tab through and adjust settings
for it, then activate the ok button.

Presumable, other list members will tell you where to find other
synthesizers. they will almost all be SAPI 5 voices.
