Alt tabbing to an open skype chat window is a good example. It does not
really need to announce pane after reading the title of the window when it
gains focus. Perhaps a verbosity level setting would be a nice feature to
add in sometime in the future. Everyone is going to have differences of
opinion when it comes to what NVDA should and shouldn't speak. So, perhaps
giving the users a bit of control over verbosity would help. There are of
course settings for verbosity in the virtual buffers but not for NVDA as a
whole.

What is an example of the case you describe, quoted below. Are you
talking
about moving from one program to another or to another window in a

or to another pane in the same part of a program such as using f6 to move
from a help treeview to the topic being displayed?
I actually can't find an example of the case I described, so I may be
wrong about this. I do seem to remember seeing this before, but can't find
an example now. However, I did find a case where focusing on an unknown
window type just says "pane" when tabbing in an application called
ExpressTalk. If "pane" were silenced completely, tabbing on to this
control would simply say nothing, as it does with JAWS. Imho, this is
unacceptable; the control might be unknown, but it would be good to know
that one had at least tabbed on to a control.
