I actually can't find an example of the case I described, so I may be wrong about this. I do seem to remember seeing this before, but can't find an example now. However, I did find a case where focusing on an unknown window type just says "pane" when tabbing in an application called ExpressTalk. If "pane" were silenced completely, tabbing on to this control would simply say nothing, as it does with JAWS. Imho, this is unacceptable; the control might be unknown, but it would be good to know that one had at least tabbed on to a control.
