Agreed, perhaps it is just the wording of pane that is confusing people in
this instance. If I am not mistaken the actual event MSAA is interpreting
here is the focused state. The problem would be that the focused state
would end up being announced for each and every object that gains focus.
However, if NVDA could be told to only say focused when a new application
window comes in focus then it may make more sense verbally to the users.

Well, before you give an assumption or accusation of bad design; perhaps,
you might consider the fact that, the access technology is saying,
Selection Cancelled, not removed; and, it is my understanding that this is
done after text has been selected for an action to be taken. If the action
is taken, whether copying, cutting, etc. and the arrow keys are used,
naturaly speech says, Selection Cancelled. But, common sense stands to
reason that, if you have already carried out an action with the text
selected, the moving of the cursor is just an informational things, so far
as speech is concerned.
Most of you would no doubt consider Narrator to be a poor reader at best.
However, I am one of the odd balls who liked hearing, Foreground Window,
spoken when a window gained focus.
Just Tony's two cents worth!
