[nvda] Re: Running NVDA without UAC Prompt

I would not advise people to turn off UAC, even experienced users. The Internet is becoming increasingly dangerous as more reputable sites are hacked and as advertising used by sites from third parties continues to be hacked. If you know how to use shortcut keys in dialogs, it simply isn't that hard to answer yes to UAC messages. And the security benefits of using protected browsing, which requires UAC to be on, are important.

alot of ppl disable uac all together/it wastes a lot of time, and for an inconvenience it has grown to be one of the reasons that win vista is a failure as an OX. There are much better reasons not to like vista, even as it mostly works now. But they gotta sell them computers -int/ms. I am getting off topic, but as I don't and hopefully never will have a vista box can only say that if you go to the Tech Republic site you will find instructive articles relating to how to manage uac in vista. If you are a relative nubie, or if you share the computer, you probably don't want to complete disable uac, so go to TR's site or some other and learn about how to control it.

Hi. I am trying to run NVDA on a Vista machine. Whenever the program
starts the UAC always wants permission to run it. I have searched for a
solution to this problem on the NVDA Web site but haven't seen a direct
answer to this; sorry if one is out there and I've missed it. Aside from
turning the UAC off is there a way to address this?
