Hi all,
Over the last few days i have been thinking about a design for NVDA's logo
and application icon, and Mat Mirabella has now started the icon and logo
(writing them in svg).
We chose to use svg in the spirit of keeping things open-source, plus, svg
since it is just a markup language, in some ways is accessible to blind
people. We as blind people may not be able to completely comprehend the
image, but at least we can read the components of it, plus most importantly,
read the text.
I have just added an images directory to the subversion repository, with
icon.svg, logo.svg and nvda.css.
Revision 319 contains these files, but no work has been done yet to convert
them in to binary image formats suitable for use with the actual program.
However, this shouldn't be too hard to do at all, we just need to work out
the correct dimentions for icons etc.
The icon is a purple rectangle, slightly taller than wider, with a yellow N
inside it.
The logo is a white background, the purple box with the yellow n (from the
icon) is there, but with a line the same color as the box coming out at its
bottom right corner, going horizontal towards the right of the logo.
The letters V D A are also in purple, floating above this line (next to the
purple box with the yellow n).
We are still deciding if the words 'NonVisual Desktop Access' should appear
in black below the line or not.
This is how I designed it in my head, and I think that is how it looks in
svg, though I'm sure Mat will correct the description I have written if I am
a little out.
Mick
